Description
Colonial period Inca wooden Kero
1550-1650 AD
Peru
Size is about 130 mm tall by 90 mm diameter.
The Inca wooden kero from 1550–1650 AD, found in Peru, is a ceremonial cup used for drinking chicha, a traditional corn beer. Made from carved wood and decorated with bright colors, it was used in rituals and social gatherings. Even during Spanish colonial rule, the kero kept its importance in Inca culture. Some keros from this time show a mix of Inca and Spanish designs, showing how the two cultures blended during this period of change.
