It’s a brittle, silvery-white metal with a reddish tinge, often appearing iridescent due to surface oxidation. It is a heavy metal element with the elemental number 83 on the periodic table . Bismuth is unlike many heavy metals, and is considered non-toxic. It is the primary ingredient of Pepto-Bismol.
Bismuth was known since the fifteenth century, but it wasn’t recognized as a distinct element until 1753, when French chemist Claude-François Geoffroy the Younger identified it.
Size is about roughly 2 inch matrix and weight ranges between 46.5-61 grams.
